extracurriculars: i did so much in my high school. they loved that.

entrance application: make a great essay, they do read them, and you are not a hofstra id number in their system when they read your application. they know your name.

went to open houses, spoke to my admissions counselor and met him showed my face to him. they remember faces, and will match it to your application. face+admissions counselor+good sat+good gpa= shoe in.

Looking around at the other students here, I assume all you need is a 2.5 GPA and $200,000.
In all seriousness, I got in with about a 2.8 GPA and a 1790 on my SATs. Not a very difficult school to get into, which is NOT a good thing.
I'd consider Hofstra a "safety school."
